In mining-affected districts, environment protection and pollution control are essential to mitigate the adverse impacts of mining on air, water, and soil quality, as well as public health. ...To address these concerns, projects focus on assessment of pollutants based on which strategic decisions are taken on pollution reduction, promotion of sustainable mining practices, and conservation of natural resources. These initiatives also emphasize on community awareness and participation in protecting the local environment and biodiversity. To support such efforts, the Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) has sanctioned funds amounting to ₹16.65 crore. for installation of 9 Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) in three major mining districts like 5 locations in Keonjhar, 02 locations Sundargarh and 02 locations Mayurbhanj to monitor and manage air pollution levels effectively, thereby strengthening environmental safeguards and promoting ecological sustainability in the mining-impacted regions. The CAAQMS have eased the air quality monitoring through its various features like scalable real time monitoring, quick data acquisition, multiple measurement features making data analysis and decision making easy.
